'Hit me with this slipper if I don't work', Telangana's candidate distributes slippers to voters as part of election campaign

However, amid all this, an Independent candidate has grabbed eyeballs because of his unique campaign strategy. Akula Hanumanth from Korutla constituency of Jagtial district is carrying slippers in hand and promising development while claiming, "If I don't work after winning, you can hit me with this slipper".

Hanumanth, while holding a holding a door-to-door campaign in Mettuppalli town was asking voters that he will resign if he fails to bring development. He also promised that the voters will have all rights to publicly hit him if he fails to stand by his promises.
Akula Hanumanth is contesting against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) candidate K Vidya Sagar Rao who in the past has won the Korutla seat three times consecutively. As Telangana is poll-bound, a total of 1,824 candidates will be contesting for 119 constituencies.

Meanwhile, the withdrawal of nominations in the state came to an end on Thursday. Election officials informed that the final number of candidates left in the fray would be known after receipt of information from the constituencies. Campaigning for the polls would hit top gear now with top leaders from different parties scheduled to address public meetings in the state.
