Given current attempts by Centre to replicate Hitler’s nda is India, it was important for Shiromani Akali Dal (S) leers to re former German Chancellor’s autobiography before coming out with irrational reactions on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), said Chief Minister. recent statements of various Akali leers, including Sukhbir, clearly exposed ir igrance on this sensitive issue, with grave repercussions for nation, said Captain Amarinder, urging Sukhbir to re book and decide “wher it’s country first or political expediency”. “Supporting bill in both houses of Parliament and in Vidhan Sabha and opposing it on or platforms is unbecoming of a political leer,” Chief Minister said in a letter sent to Sukhbir along book.

In letter, Captain Amarinder recalled that, during last Vidhan Sabha session, he h promised to send Shiromani Akali Dal copies of Hitler’s Mein Kampf, which in English translates to 'My Struggles.’ “se were his (Hitler’s) beliefs which he sold to German people. In his rise to power, which later became his governments policy, when his Nazi party assumed office,” wrote Chief Minister, ding that “Apart from destroying Germany in World War 2, to fulfil his territorial ambition, from time he assumed office in 1933 to end of war in 1945, his purification of German race by his ethnic cleansing, led initially to removal of his main opposition, communist parties, followed by persecution of intellectuals, and finally to extermination of Jews.”

“Re book, as one always learns from history. world has changed and our television and or media are powerful, and certainly different to that of Germany in thirties under Joseph Goebbels. Neverless, talk of camps and a national register to eliminate Muslim and Jewish communities is omius,” Captain Amarinder furr wrote, ding that while some of political parties, including Congress, were protesting every day along with universities across country, “it is time w that ors, too, join this movement.”

Meanwhile, taking S president he-on over yesterday’s remarks, Chief Minister, in a statement here, also asked him to explain how his (Captain Amarinder’s) demand for Akalis to quit NDA over CAA amounted to "subservience" to Gandhi family. “Or are you trying to say that lakhs of people out on streets to protest against CAA are doing so simply out of subservience to Gandhi family,” he asked Sukhbir.

Retorting to Sukhbir’s `saving his chair’ jab, Chief Minister said his chair was quite secure. “But apparently, you are worried about your wife Harsimrat’s chair in union cabinet and do t want her to lose that at any cost,” quipped Captain Amarinder, ding that this could be reason for S refusing to walk out of NDA despite claiming to take a stand against CAA.

Dubbing Sukhbir’s remarks as a blatant case of double standards, Chief Minister pointed out that S chief was deliberately twisting his (Captain Amarinder’s) statements in a bid to fool people on government’s stand on CAA. “Or is he so igrant that he does t understand difference between seeking an inclusive legislation, which allows citizenship for all communities, including Muslims and Sikhs, and a law that excludes certain sections such as Muslims and Jews etc?” asked Chief Minister.

“I fail to understand what clarification Sukhbir wants from me on this count? Can he point out a single instance or statement where I have opposed giving relief to persecuted Sikhs or, for that matter, to persecuted Hindus or Buddhists? ”asked Captain Amarinder. t only h he personally always stood for rights and interests of Sikhs, at point h he asked for Sikhs to be excluded from ambit of CAA, pointed out Chief Minister, asking S president to stop indulging in such brazen fabrications to misle people.

In fact, said Chief Minister, it was Sukhbir who needed to clarify his and his party’s stand on CAA, considering ir outrously contrictory statements on issue over past several days. “First y support CAA wholeheartedly in Parliament, n some of m (Akali leers) say y want Muslims in CAA (why y did t say so in Parliament is beyond comprehension), n one of ir leers says y won’t fight Delhi polls because y are t rey to review ir stand on CAA. But body kws what ir stand on CAA really is,” quipped Chief Minister, asking Sukhbir to give clarity, once and for all, on controversial issue.
