How Shivraj Singh Chouhan reacted to BJP naming Mohan Yadav as his successor

The outgoing Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, congratulated his successor Mohan Yadav, who was named by BJP central observers, putting an end to week-long speculations after the saffron party clinched emphatic victory in the Hindi heartland state. 

Chouhan, whose women's welfare schemes titled many votes to the BJP, expressed confidence in his successor and asked Yadav to create new records in the field of public welfare under the “guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.” 

“Hearty congratulations to hardworking fellow Shri @DrMohanYadav51 ji on being nominated as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh in the BJP Legislative Party meeting. I am confident ‍ that under the able guidance of respected Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi ji, you will take Madhya Pradesh to new heights of progress and development and will create new records in the field of public welfare. Many congratulations and best wishes for this new responsibility!” Chouhand wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Yadav, who held the cabinet berth in the previous Madhya Pradesh government led by Chouhan, was picked as the new Chief Minister at the BJP's legislative meeting in Bhopal on Monday. 

The Ujjain South MLA, on being picked for the top post, said, “I am a small worker of the party. I thank all of you, the state leadership and the central leadership. With your love and support, I will try to fulfil my responsibilities.” 

The BJP legislative meeting also picked two deputies for Yadav-  Jagdisgh Devda and Rajesh Shukla.

In the 2023 state elections, the BJP achieved an emphatic victory bagging 163 seats while the Congress finished second in the race with 66 seats. The party's 'Ladli Behna' scheme was regarded as a masterstroke that significantly influenced voters in favour of the BJP.
