J&K's Article 370 To Go, Geeta Phogat thanks the Government of India for the 'Historic Step'
India's first-ever gold-medal-winning wrestler at the Commonwealth Games, Geeta Phogat took to social media and wrote that it was a historic decision in independent India.

On Monday, Home Minister Amit Shah moved a proposal to revoke Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and to bifurcate state into Union Territories of Lakh and Jammu and Kashmir. Shah in his proposal stated that Modi government under visement of President recommends revocation of Article 370. He said that Centre has brought four proposals pertaining to state to Parliament.
Geeta Phogat terms it as a 'Historic Step'

Olympic bronze medal-winning wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt wrote that those who are beating ir chest due to removal of Article 370 are same people who were still shaking ir hands over de bodies of Kashmiris for 70 years. Olympic bronze medalist n ded that today it is a historic day when whole country is proud, and for first time in country, people have seen power of central government.
What is Article 35A?
Incorporated in Constitution by a 1954 Presidential order, Article 35 A defines permanent residents of state of Jammu and Kashmir by giving special rights and privileges to state subjects. It stems from Article 370 that gives an automous right to Jammu and Kashmir.

article is also referred to as Permanent Residents Law and bars woman belonging to state from any property rights if she marries a person from outside state. Even children of such women do t get right as y do t have any succession rights over property.
What is Article 370?
It exempts Jammu and Kashmir from following Indian Constitution except for Article 1 and itself. It also restricts Parliament's legislative powers in Jammu and Kashmir. It was passed in Constituent Assembly on May 27, 1949, and is first article of Part XXI of Indian Constitution. heing of this part is ‘Temporary, Transitional and Special Provisions’. Repealing Article 370 has automatic effect of undoing Article 35A.
