SIT formed, 300 cases reopened: 1984 anti-Sikh riots victims got justice after 2014, says Amit Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said justice to the victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots started being delivered only after PM Modi assumed office.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday, October 13, said that justice to victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots started being delivered only after Narendra Modi government assumed office in 2014. dressing a programme of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee in Delhi, Shah said 300 cases related to 1984 riots were reopened and compensation of Rs 5 lakh was given to families of each of victims after 2014.
"No one can forget riots of 1984. No one was punished in those riots until Modi government assumed office. Many inquiry commissions were formed but did not yield results. But Modi formed SIT, reopened 300 cases, and started sending those who were guilty to jail,” he said.

Compensation for 1984 anti-Sikh riot victims
home minister said that after so many years, process of giving compensation of Rs 5 lakh to kin of 3,328 victims was done by Modi government. Paying glowing tributes to Sikh gurus and Sikh community, he said Sikhs move forward taking both religion and karma equally, and when it is an issue of sacrificing one's life for religion, a true Sikh never looks back.

He said that from days of independence struggle to security of country now, sacrifice of Sikh brors is unparalleled. Shah paid tributes to Sikh gurus and said: "I bow my he to Guru trition of Sikh religion. Guru trition of 10 generations of Sikh Panth has set before world an excellent example of struggle and sacrifice against injustice and barbarity before invers." He said contribution of 9th Guru Teg Bahur to country can never be forgotten.
