After BJP’s massive victory in the Karnataka by-elections, the chief minister is plagued with the demands of the newly elected MLAs for cabinet berths.

Since BJP’s massive victory in Karnataka by-elections, chief minister is plagued with ar challenge-accommodating demands of newly elected MLAs for cabinet berths while balancing wishes of or BJP leers. chief minister’s statement on Thursday morning that he might t go to Delhi for at least a week, till he is called by home minister Amit Shah, has temporarily stalled lobbying but politicking for posts continue. Over last couple of days, multiple demands for certain portfolios, causing a dilemma for chief minister.

New ministers claim that y have sacrificed

While newly-elected MLAs are trying to impose ir wishes on Yediyurappa, claiming that BJP is in power only because of ir ‘sacrifices’ or would have been in opposition. On or hand, BJP oldtimers are also ostensibly miffed at se attempts of arm twisting and worry at being sidelined. chief minister has alrey anunced that all 11 of legislators who recently joined BJP and won will be me ministers. But question w is of portfolios, with new entrants demanding heavyweight ministries.

BC Patil, talking to media, said he ‘wouldn't mind handling home ministry’ as he has worked as a police officer and has kwledge of workings of department.

On 20th August, first cabinet expansion h taken place amidst much drama where 17 BJP legislators, including an independent, were given berths and three deputy chief ministers were inducted. w one of MLAs who h been pivotal in manufacturing rebellion in Congress is assiduously pushing for post of DyCM and asking if three from within party have alrey been given position n he, who has been instrumental in formation of government should t be excluded.

Legislators lobbying for portfolio of Bengaluru Development

Concerns of regional and caste imbalance are also afflicting chief minister. In current cabinet, Bengaluru city has 4 ministers and w three more have been ded to list and from Belagavi, along with two ministers present, three more will be ded.  portfolio of Bengaluru Development has been a coveted one in consecutive governments and this time too, several legislators have been lobbying for it. Reports suggest that new MLAs might t be rewarded with lucrative ministry which could be given to Dy CM Ashwath Narayana. ding to existing chaos, senior MLA Umesh Katti who has been sulking for t being given a ministry has said that he believes that he is next chief minister from BJP and said he would be happy if high command includes him this time in cabinet expansion.
