Kartarpur Gurudwara management row: Subramanian Swamy slams Captain Amarinder's government

Subramanian Swamy has hit out at the Pakistani govt for taking over the management of Kartarpur Gurudwara from the Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee.

Senior BJP leer and Rajya Sabha MP Dr Subramanian Swamy on Thursday hit out at Pakistani government for taking over manment of Kartarpur Gurudwara from Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC) to a separate trust. Taking to Twitter, Dr Swamy asked, "has Pakistan Islamic Dictatorship has taken over manment of Kartarpur Guru Nanak Gurudwara?"

'But Congi Punjab Govt was interested...'

BJP leer also slammed Congress government in Punjab and said that three years ago "I h said Indian troops should cross over and take over Gurudwara. But Congi Punjab Govt was interested only taking visa and go on pilgrim for Sikhs."

However, amid massive protests over Pakistan's decision, a top Islamab official said on Thursday that Sikh body will be part of new manment.

Ecomic Coordination Committee of Federal Cabinet recently approved establishment of Project Manment Unit (PMU) Kartarpur Corridor, a self-financing body, for manment and maintenance of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib under ministrative control of Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).

India on Thursday described Pakistan's decision as "highly condemnable", saying it runs against religious sentiments of Sikh community.

"Such actions only expose reality of Pakistani government and its leership's tall claims of preserving and protecting rights and welfare of religious mirity communities," Ministry of External Affairs said in New Delhi. "Pakistan is called upon to reverse its arbitrary decision to deprive Sikh mirity community its right to man affairs of Holy Gurudwara Kartarpur Sahib," it said.

'Pakistan's Sikh body will be part of it'

EPTB is a statutory board that mans religious properties and shrines of Hindus and Sikhs who h migrated to India following partition.

ETPB spokesperson Amir Hashmi said on Thursday that PSGPC will be part of it. " federal government early this week h handed over ministrative control of Kartarpur Corridor to ETPB. Earlier, board was only looking after affairs of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib," he told PTI. Hashmi said that earlier several or ncies and departments were involved in matters related to corridor and w it has come under one department.

When asked why ministrative or or role has been given to PSGPC, Hashmi said that Sikh body is fully involved as it is part of ETPB.  Kartarpur is a true example of Sikh-Muslim friendship as well as interfaith harmony, he said.

Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara is located in Pakistan's Narowal district across river Ravi, about four kilometres from Dera Baba Nanak shrine in India. It is final resting place of Sikh faith's founder Guru Nanak Dev, who h spent last 18 years of his life in Kartarpur.
