Kejriwal denies rejecting request for Kanhaiya Kumar's prosecution
Delhi CM Kejriwal has rubbished media reports claiming that AAP has rejected the request by Delhi Police to prosecute Kanhaiya Kumar in the JNU sedition case

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has rubbished media reports that claimed that Aam Ami Party rejected request by Delhi Police to prosecute Kanhaiya Kumar and ors in JNU sedition case. Arvind Kejriwal in a press conference said that "I have been told that decision has been taken so far in case. News that's being spre is just a speculation." He clarified his stance in a press conference after several media reports emerged claiming that Delhi government has rejected request to prosecute Kanhaiya Kumar and ors who were accused of sedition.
JNU sedition case
Following JNU sedition case’s recent timeline; on April 3, AAP government h informed court that it would take a month to decide wher to grant sanction to prosecute Kanhaiya Kumar and ors. Later, on April 5, Delhi Government h submitted a reply before Special CBI court. This reply showed that Delhi Police h filed charge sheet in case in a "secretive" and "hasty" manner, without obtaining approval of appropriate authority. And subsequently, on July 23 this year, Delhi Police was granted time till September 18 to obtain requisite sanction in JNU sedition case.

police in its January charge sheet claimed that re were videos wherein Kanhaiya Kumar was seen leing a group of students. According to sheet, a few witnesses also identified group of students raising anti-national slogans on JNU campus. police have charged Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid, and Anirban Bhattacharya for raising 'anti-national slogans' during an event organised in college. This event h been organised to mark hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Videos of sloganeering h been accessed by Republic TV.

CM Arvind Kejriwal, in same press conference, also thanked Central Government for its efforts to curb pollution in national capital. He said, “This (reduction in pollution levels) has t been only due to efforts of Delhi government. I want to thank all ncies involved in efforts. This has been due to efforts of Delhi government. We want to thank Central government for ir efforts, MCDs for ir efforts. Supreme Court passed so many orders which we followed religiously."
