Maharashtra Assembly Polls: BJP appoints Bhupendra Yadav as state election in-charge

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed its party General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav as Election In-charge for the upcoming Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha elections.

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has appointed its party General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav as Election In-charge for upcoming Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha elections. 

BJP released an official statement on appointment of election in-charges on August 9. Along with Yadav, Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh Keshav Prasad Maurya & former Karnataka MLA Laxman Savadi have been chosen as co-Incharges for polls. Here's official statement:

statement was released by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh. Along with three party leaders, Rajya Sabha parliamentarian Saroj Pandey has also been chosen as a coordinator. Meanwhile, as Delhi also prepares for Assembly polls, party has fielded Minister of Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javedkar as election in-charge for  country's capital alongside naming MoS Nityanand Rai and Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri as deputy in charge for polls.

It also named national vice president of BJP, Shyam Jaju, as coordinator in-charge and National Secretary of BJP Tarun Chugh as deputy coordinator in-charge for upcoming polls. BJP has started preparing and is aiming to retain power in Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand. ruling party also hopes to defeat Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in capital.

BJP-Shiv Sena alliance won a majority in 2014 elections going on to form a government under chief ministership of Devendra Fadnavis. Previously, Congress-NCP ruled state for 15 long years. However, in 2014, BJP won 122 seats and Shiv Sena won 63 seats.

Present political scenario in Maharashtra:

BJP-SS coalition has agreed upon an understanding between each or's parties for Chief Ministerial post - agreed to by Devendra Fadnavis and Uddhav Thackeray. However, official statement has been released yet from both parties. As a result, Shiv Sena is keen and rooting for Yuva Sena Chief Aaditya Thackeray for position of Chief Minister. However, earlier in In June, leaders from BJP had given statements saying that next Chief Minister should be from ir party. Girish Mahajan, BJP legislator from Jamner asserted that it was clear that Chief Minister would be from his party. BJP leaders Sudhir Mungantivar and Saroj Pandey had said that BJP should get CM post in Maharashtra.
