A poster war is going on in Maharashtra over the issue of chief ministerial candidate ahead of the Maharashtra assembly polls. Despite party chiefs from BJP and Shiv Sena saying that have agreed upon an understanding between each other's parties for the chief ministerial post, the leaders on the ground have been tussling over whose party leader will take on the post.
A recent poster by Shiv Sena in Nashik says that the next CM of Maharashtra will be from the party.
Earlier, Maharashtra BJP in-charge Saroj Pandey had said that next CM will be from the BJP as we are a bigger party in the state and Devendra Fadanvis has done excellent work. The Shiv Sena is pushing for Aaditya Thackeray, son of its chief Uddhav Thackeray, to be the next chief minister.
In June, leaders from BJP had given statements saying that the next chief minister should be from their party. Girish Mahajan, the BJP legislator from Jamner asserted that it was clear that the Chief Minister would be from his party. BJP leaders Sudhir Mungantivar and Saroj Pandey had said that BJP should get CM post in Maharashtra
In the same month, while answering a question about rumours of Aaditya Thackeray contesting the state assembly elections Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut had said. "Uddhav Thackeray will decide whether Aaditya will contest or not but Maharashtra needs a young CM like Aaditya Thackeray and we believe that the people of Maharashtra will accept Aaditya as their CM.
Meanwhile, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had said that the issue of who will be the next Maharashtra CM has been discussed and decided with Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray while attending Shiv Sena foundation day celebrations in Mumbai. "Don't focus on the issue that who will become CM. Uddhav and I have decided a few things. We will tell you at the right time," he said to reporters at the event.
