West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee faced embarrassment on Thursday after alleging that the BJP government at the Centre intends 'to malign all regions and regional languages' over the JEE being available in Gujarati, apart from the standard Hindi and English. After the National Testing Agency clarified that only the state of Gujarat had requested for the paper to be made available in Gujarati when the examination had started back in 2013, BJP National General Secretary, Kailash Vijayvargiya slammed Banerjee for the false allegations.

Vijayvargiya slams Mamata Banerjee

BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya shared the National Testing Agency press release dated November 7, 2019, on Thursday busting the claims by the West Bengal CM. Earlier in the day, Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani also slammed Mamata Banerjee and asked her to apologise to the people.

National Testing Agency Press Release 

"The JEE (Main) Examination started in 2013 with the idea of all States admitting their Engineering candidates through JEE (Main). The request was sent to all the States in the year 2013 itself. Only the Gujarat State agreed to admit their candidates in State Engineering Colleges of Gujarat through JEE (Main) and requested that the JEE (Main) paper be made available in Gujarati language. Further, in 2014 Maharashtra State also opted for admitting the Engineering candidates in the State Engineering Colleges through JEE (Main). The Maharashtra State requested to provide the question paper in the language of Marathi and Urdu."
