Manoj Sinha appointed new J&K Lieutenant Governor; GC Murmu's resignation accepted

In a significant development, BJP leader and former Union Minister Manoj Sinha has been appointed as Jammu and Kashmir’s new Lieutenant Governor.

In a significant development, BJP leer and former Union Minister Maj Sinha has been appointed as Jammu and Kashmir’s new Lieutenant Goverr. development takes place following resignation of Girish Chandra Murmu. Murmu h submitted his resignation on Wednesday after serving nine months as  first L-G of Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

Former Union Minister Maj Sinha appointed as J&K’s new L-G

appointment took place after President Ram Nath Kovind accepted Murmu’s resignation. A three-time MP from Ghazipur, Maj Sinha is a former Minister of Communication. In dition, he was also Minister of State (MoS) for Railways. Sinha's appointment as Union Territory's second Lieutenant Goverr was hailed by BJP leer Ram Mhav.

"A gentle, erudite and experienced leer with los of ministrative experience as a minister to he J&K ministration. J&K to progress on d path of development with renewed vigour." said Ram Mhav in a tweet

J&K L-G Murmu resigns after 9 months

Murmu's resignation followed after his controversial comments on Assembly elections in Union Territory. On 28 July, Election Commission of India (ECI) pulled up Murmu for his statements on timing of Jammu and Kashmir election. Murmu has repeatedly maintained that elections in Union territory could be held after ongoing delimitation exercise. Moreover, Murmu also stated that President’s rule is solution and that 'Assembly can resume anytime'. His resignation came on one-year-anniversary of abrogation of Article 370.
