Manoj Tiwari on Wednesday countered Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal after the AAP president said that the Delhi BJP chief will have to leave the national capital if NRC (National Register of Citizens) is implemented in the Union Territory. Speaking to news agency ANI, the BJP leader asked the Delhi CM if he thinks a person hailing from Purvanchal (UP-Bihar) is an 'illegal infiltrator'.

Manoj Tiwari further said that Arvind Kejriwal has 'lost his mental stability' if he wants to chase out people who have migrated from other states to the national capital. Tiwari added that if Arvind Kejriwal wants to oust people from other states, then the Delhi CM is also among them. The Lok Sabha MP went on to question Kejriwal if he knows what NRC is.

"I would like to ask if he wants to say that a person who hails from Purvanchal is an illegal infiltrator, whom he wants to chase out of Delhi. People who have migrated from other states are considered as foreigners by you (Delhi CM)? You want to chase them out from Delhi, you're one among them. If this is his intention then I think he has lost his mental stability. How does an IRS officer not know what NRC is?" Manoj Tiwari said speaking to news agency ANI.

Kejriwal's jibe at Manoj Tiwari

On Wednesday, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal was asked about his views on the implementation of NRC in Delhi as promised by BJP MP Manoj Tiwari. Responding to the reporter, the AAP chief took a jibe at the BJP leader, saying, "Manoj Tiwari will have to leave Delhi if NRC is implemented in Delhi". This has come in the aftermath of efforts made by BJP government to segregate Indian citizens from illegal migrants through NRC. BJP's Manoj Tiwari had called for NRC in Delhi, adding that illegal immigrants who have settled are 'dangerous'. He also maintained that the NRC demand will be part of the party's election manifesto for the upcoming assembly polls in Delhi.

Arvind Kejriwal's announcement

Meanwhile, in yet another freebie ahead of the assembly elections in Delhi, Arvind Kejriwal addressed a press briefing announcing his government's new scheme 'Mukhyamantri Kirayedaar Bijli Meter Yojna'. Under the scheme, he said prepaid meters will be installed for tenants with the aim to give great relief to the people. The scheme will allow the benefits of the Delhi government’s power subsidy to the tenant population. This announcement has come after Kejriwal announced a waiver in the water bill, free metro service for women, waiver in electricity bill and free wi-fi at bus stops, ahead of the polls in the national capital.
