Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Prhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme from Uttar Presh's Gorakhpur transferring first instalment of Rs. 2,000 each to over one crore farmers.
Presenting budget for year 2019-2020, interim Finance Minister Piyush Goyal in a massive boost to farming and agricultural sector, during his speech, anunced that farmers who own up to two hectares of land will be directly provided with an income of Rs 6000 every year.

What is Prhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme?
1. Prhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana (PM-KISAN) was anunced in interim Budget 2019-20 on February 1, 2019. However, scheme will be effective retrospectively from December 1, 2018 and will benefit more than 12 crore farmers.

2. Under Scheme, Rs. 6,000 will be given per year to small and marginal farmers having combined land holding or ownership of up to two hectares.
