Backing Jammu-Kashmir Official Langus Bill, Union minister Jitendra Singh, on Wednesday, said that 'past amalies h to be corrected'. He claimed that erstwhile state's government h recognised Urdu & English as its official langu since 1957. With dition of  Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi, Singh claimed that justice was done as those were most commonly spoken langus.

On Tuesday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah described passing of Jammu and Kashmir Official Langus (Amendment) Bill by Lok Sabha as a momentous day for people of Union Territory. In a series of tweets, Shah also said under legislation, special efforts will be me towards development of major regional langus like 'Gojri', 'Pahari' and 'Punjabi'. home minister said along with this, bill will also strengn existing institutional structure for promotion and development of regional langus, thanking PM for his commitment.

"I thank PM @narendramodi ji for his commitment towards restoring culture of Jammu and Kashmir through this bill. I also want to assure our sisters and brors of Jammu and Kashmir that Modi govt will leave stone unturned to bring back glory of Jammu and Kashmir," he said.

Lok Sabha passes J&K official langu bill

Lok Sabha on Tuesday passed bill under which Kashmiri, Dogri and Hindi, apart from existing Urdu and English, will be official langus in union territory of Jammu and Kashmir.   Bill clarifies that English may continue to be used in union territory for those ministrative and legislative purposes for which it was alrey being used. bill was later passed by Rajya Sabha via voice vote - on Wednesday.

Jammu and Kashmir government has issued over 18.52 lakh domicile certificates (DCs) against more than 21.99 lakh applications received so far. As per consolidated figures from across 20 districts of Union territory, 21,99,513 people have applied for domicile certificates, of which 20,87,815 were found complete in all respects, while rest were rejected for want of prescribed documents. As many as 18,52,355 people have been issued domicile certificates till Monday, and rest are in process, spokesman said.
