MVA govt bans officials from attending meetings organised by LoP Fadnavis; BJP cries foul

A Government Resolution was issued in Maharashtra restricting officials from attending meetings organised by the Leader of Opposition Devendra Fadnavis.

In a significant move on Tuesday, a Government Resolution was issued in Maharashtra restricting officials from attending meetings organised by Leader of Opposition. This comes in wake of former CM and LoP Devendra Fadnavis's statewide tour where he visited many cities plagued by COVID-19 crisis. During se visits, he often reviewed situation along with administrative officials. 

GR specifies that only Ministers have right to call officials for meetings, have discussions with m, and give m orders. At same time, state government has mooted ar solution to resolve  pressing problems of people. district collector has been advised to demand list of pending works in advance. Every month, a day will be set aside to convene a meeting in this regard for which concerned MLA shall be invited.

BJP slams MVA government

BJP MLA Ram Kadam expressed strong disapproval of this GR. He mentioned that Fadnavis was touring ok and corner of Maharashtra to help people, something that state Ministers had failed to do. According to him, this was MVA government's ploy to ensure that ir alleged poor handling of COVID-19 situation is t brought to public tice. reafter, Kadam demanded withdrawal of aforesaid GR. Currently, re are 3,27,031 vel coronavirus cases in Maharashtra out of which 1,82,217 patients have been discharged while 12,276 fatalities have been reported.

Ram Kadam remarked, " government which has totally failed to handle COVID-19 crisis has come with a new diktat. In this crisis situation, it is necessary for Ministers and ruling party MLAs to tour state. It is essential for m to help people. Owing to fear, Ministers are t ready to leave ir homes. On or hand, Devendra Fadnavis and Pravin Darekar are going to ok and corner of Maharashtra and helping people. y are talking to officials. government's order has stopped this. What is reason for this? To ensure that failure of Maharashtra government is t brought to light, government has done this. y will have to take back this diktat."
