National Approval Ratings: BJP is projected to lead with 4 seats in Haryana leaving Congress behind

With India inching closer and closer to general elections, the campaigns of political parties across the country are in full swing. In the pre-election hubbub, the prevailing scenario appears ever-changing, thus bringing in new shades to an already vibrant political landscape in the country in terms of seat-sharing, coalitions or fielding big names in different states. Republic TV and CVoter are back with the National Approval Ratings to give a complete national picture as to who will win if polls are held today.

Despite the controversial chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar sparking controversies with his rape remark in November or the state battling incumbency, NDA is predicted to hold its ground with a majority of 7 seats, followed by UPA with 3 seats and none for Others. 

While the BJP has maintained its hold from 2014 to 2018 projections, Congress’ gain of 2 seats has not come at the behest of the BJP's seat tally but instead has come from the INLD.

NDA is projected to take its vote share from of 40.9% from 2014 to 44.7% in 2019, resulting in a growth 3.8%.

Encompassing the current political situation in India, the significant strands to watch out for are various efforts to form 'united fronts' which appears to be a contest between those who were present at TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee's mega-rally in Kolkata, and those, like Telangana CM KCR, who weren't, as well as another Nehru-Gandhi scion, Priyanka Gandhi, commencing her (active) political career after the Congress party was snubbed by Akhilesh Yadav's SP's and Mayawati's BSP's alliance in Uttar Pradesh despite the party's victory in three Hindi heartlands in the Assembly elections- Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh. The beginning of 2019 also saw parliament giving a green signal to provide 10 percent reservation in jobs and educational institutions to the economically weaker sections in the general category. It also remains to be seen what the Modi government's last budget holds for the people of India.
