With the Lok Sabha elections 2019 inching closer, Republic TV and CVoter have presented the National Approval Ratings to give complete national picture as to who will win if polls are held in September 2018. The NDA seat that they won in 2014 is set to go to the UPA in 2018. They swept every seat in Rajasthan in 2014,  but expectedly so the Vasundhara Raje Factor is going to kick in and the BJP is set to lose 7 seats that will be directly credited to the Congress tally.

  • At the outset, there’s a rider because the PM factor in Rajasthan is yet to kick in as PM Modi is set to hit the ground on October 6th so perhaps we may see a change in the next round, if at all.
  • While there is a direct transfer of vote in terms of seat share the Congress seems to be gaining significant ground by not only swallowing the 7.8% decline in vote share of the BJP but also taking into its fold the 4.6% decline in voteshare of the otehr parties. Brass tacks: Sachin Pilot is spinning gains

  • That being said, out of 25 seats and despite a huge amount of anti incumbency against Raje who is facing an election in a few months, the BJP is still managing to pull in 18 out of the 25 seats, which is 72% of the seats in Rajasthan if the elections are held today. What else can this be apart from a mega PM Modi factor working for the BJP?

  • The story of Rajasthan is certainly of Cognress against but will taking a tally from 0 to 7 despite having the anti incumbency of Raje playing in and despite Sachin Pilot hitting the ground early-- be a satisfactory performance for Rahul Gandhi in the national picture?

IMPORTANT: These numbers come in the back of Rahul Gandhi going to Rajasthan and declaring at a rally that “gully gully mein shor hain, desh ka chowkidar chor hain”-- the electorate in Rajasthan is still strongly with Modi so Rahul Gandhi’s gali politics is getting a big thumbs down and Sachin Pilot should ask  himself if he should do what AMARINDER IS DOING in Punjab-- that is keeping Rahul Gandhi as much confined to New Delhi as possible

2018 has been a blockbuster year so far as far as the political landscape of India is concerned. While BJP managed to form government in 3 states this year, either in alliance or on its own, gaining a massive lead over the Opposition, the Congress, by forming government in Karnataka by tying up with the JDS, saved itself from being out of power in all large states, save for Punjab. Out of 4 states, which went to polls this year, BJP has its government on its own in Tripura and with alliance partners in two states, namely, Meghalaya (with National People’s Party), Nagaland (with Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party), whereas the Congress managed to form government in Karnataka with JDS as its alliance partner.

The results of 2019 Lok Sabha elections may or may not reflect the results or scenarios of the state assembly elections, nevertheless, to establish where we stand at present, Republic TV and CVoter has presented the National Approval Ratings.
