With less than five months remaining for the General elections in 2019, Republic TV in association with CVoter came up with the third edition of the National Approval Ratings. Tamil Nadu, which has 39 seats, is expected to play a crucial role in determining the next government.

A lot has changed since the 2014 elections, and even since the previous two editions of the National Approval Ratings which were held in October and November. The DMK has confirmed forging an alliance with the Congress party, and it is expected to have massive implications.

The alliance of DMK and Congress is projected to clean sweep the state, leaving the NDA and AIADMK biting the dust. All the 39 seats are projected to be won by the UPA (30 for DMK and 9 for Congress) , and despite the AIADMK and BJP winning 26.4 and 9.5 per cent votes respectively, they are expected to come empty-handed.

It is a stunning turnaround in comparison to the 2014 elections. DMK and Congress, who are now projected to clean sweep the state, were nowhere in the scene with 0 votes. Then, AIADMK had won 37 and BJP won two seats, but this time around, the tide has changed completely.

Prediction in October and November:

The projection for Tamil Nadu in the previous editions of the National Approval Ratings was nearly the same. In October, it was projected that DMK would be miles ahead of their competitors, winning 28 out of 39 seats. AIADMK, which is the current ruling party in the state, only managing nine, while BJP taking home the other two seats, leaving Congress-led UPA empty-handed.

And in November, the situation remained nearly the same. DMK was projected to add one more seat to their tally at the expense of BJP, which meant the former would win 29 seats and the latter winning just one seat. The other parties' seat-share remained the same.
