As BJP leers slam Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for passing anti-CAA resolution in Kerala Assembly, NCP spokesperson Nawab Malik entered tiff on Wednesday, opining that body has a 'right to object' to a state Assembly's decision.
"We were against Citizenship law. Many political parties have opposed it on floor of House as well as in public. Every Assembly has a right to pass any resolution against or in support of any issue," said Nawab Malik while speaking to media.
He asserted that if Kerala Assembly passes any rightful resolution, n body can object Assembly or CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

Union Minister's comment
On Tuesday, Union Minister Ravi Shankar Pras h said that state assembly does t hold power to pass any resolution with regard to citizenship law.

"Citizenship, naturalisation is entry 17 on Union list. refore, it is only Parliament that has power to pass any law with regards to citizenship, t any Assembly, including Kerala," Pras h said at a press conference.
Slamming Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Pras h said, " constitution has a mandate -- Parliament - List 1, State Assemblies - List 2." and urged CM to get better legal vice.
Pras's comments came after Kerala Assembly passed a resolution seeking to withdraw CAA with support of Congress, CPI and CPI (M).

Kerala Assembly passes CM Vijayan's Anti-CAA Resolution
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Tuesday moved a resolution in state Assembly demanding scrapping of controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). Though one-day special session was convened to ratify extension of reservation for SC and ST in Assembly and Parliament for ar dece, resolution against CAA was also taken up in view of widespre concerns among public in this regard, official sources said. resolution was passed by state assembly.

While presenting resolution, Vijayan said CAA was against "secular" outlook and fabric of country and would le to religion-based discrimination in granting citizenship. " Act contricts basic values and principles of Constitution. In view of anxiety among people of country, Centre should take steps to drop CAA and uphold secular outlook of Constitution," he said.
