NSA Ajit Doval leaves SCO meeting objecting to Pakistan's fictitious map; MEA busts lies

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval left a meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in protest against Pakistan's use of a fictitious map as a backdrop.

On Tuesday, National Security visor Ajit Doval left a meeting of Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in protest against Pakistan's use of a fictitious map as a backdrop.  map reportedly depicted Indian territories as a part of Pakistan. Government sources observed that this was a blatant violation of SCO charter and against all rms of safeguarding sovereignty and territorial integrity of SCO member states.

Russian side, as chair, t only tried very hard to persue Pakistan, but it also appreciated NSA's attendance at SCO summit. As per sources, Russia me it clear that it does t support Pakistan's provocative act and assured that its National Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev's warm personal relationship with Doval shall t be affected. Officially reacting to this development, Ministry of External Affairs busted misleing narrative propagated by Pakistan. latter h claimed that SCO h endorsed its new political map.

MEA official spokesperson Anurag Srivastava stated, "At meeting of National Security visers (NSAs) of member states of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), hosted by Chair of SCO (Russia), Pakistani NSA deliberately projected a fictitious map that Pakistan has recently been propagating. This was in blatant disregard to visory by host against it and in violation of rms of meeting. After consultation with host, Indian side left meeting in protest at that juncture. As was to be expected, Pakistan n went on to present a misleing view of this meeting."

Pakistan's map sparks off controversy

On August 4, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan unveiled his country's new political map ahe of first anniversary of Jammu and Kashmir's special status revocation. In a marked departure from its claim that Jammu and Kashmir is "disputed territory", this entire Union Territory along with Union Territory of Lakh has been incorporated in map. Moreover, Pakistan claimed sovereignty over Siachen by extending Line of Control to Karakoram Pass.

neighbouring country also specified that its international border lies along eastern bank of Sir Creek, which was previously shown as western bank. However, part of Kashmir and Lakh border with China was t marked and described as 'Frontier Undecided'. In ar incredulous development, Pakistan incorporated parts of Gujarat such as Junagh and Manavdar in its political map.

Reacting to Pakistan's misventure, MEA termed it as an exercise in "political absurdity". It stated that Pakistan's ridiculous assertions h legal validity. According to MEA, this was proof of Pakistan's obsession with territorial aggrandizement.
