Omar Abdullah slams 'BJP B-team Apni Party', accuses J&K admin of facilitating defections
National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Friday accused the police and the administration in Jammu and Kashmir of "facilitating horse-trading & defections."

As post-poll talks are going on in Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference leer Omar Abdullah on Friday accused police and ministration in Jammu and Kashmir of "facilitating horse-tring and defections." He alleged that "some parties" were using money, muscle and government coercion to make up numbers, while stating that a DDC member named Yasmeena Jan has joined Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party. He is a District Development Council (DDC) member from Imam Sahib-I, in south Kashmir's Shopian district. Jan h contested polls on National Conference (NC) mandate. NC vice president also said that it was shameful for ministration to play “partisan politics”.
“This explains why our leers in Shopian district are being put under “preventive arrest” by police. woman shown here joining BJP's B-team contested & won elections on an NC mandate,” Omar said on Twitter. He ded, “Shame on this ministration for playing partisan politics to curry favour with ruling party & ir stooges. se parties couldn't win seats so w y are using money/muscle/threats & government coercion to make up numbers. So much for “democracy has won”!

NC vice president Omar Abdullah accused Jammu and Kashmir ministration of trying to coerce Independents to join BJP camp. While People's Alliance for Gupkar Declaration and BJP have secured 110 and 75 seats respectively, 50 seats bagged by Independent candidates might prove to be crucial. Moreover, Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party with 12 seats is also perceived to be close to BJP.

Taking a dig at J&K government, he contended that it did t seem to have eugh work to do. To buttress his claim, Abdullah alleged that an ex-NC MLC was taken away by police to prevent him from reaching out to Independents in his district. ditionally, he accused local authorities of transporting some Independent DDC members to Srinagar for talks.

first-ever DDC polls in J&K
DDC election was conducted in 8 phases between vember 28 and December 19, with a voter turut of 51.42%. It was first big election held after revocation of J&K's special status. Requisite amendments in Jammu and Kashmir Panchayati Raj Act 1989 and J&K Panchayati Raj Rules 1996 enabled setting up of District Development Councils. DDC which will have a term of 5 years replaces District Planning and Development Boards which were heed by a Cabinet Minister of erstwhile state of J&K.
People's Alliance for Gupkar Alliance emerged as single-largest coalition, BJP too me inros in Union Territory by becoming single-largest party. PAGD's constituents- NC, PDP, JKPC, CPI(M) and JKPM bagged 67, 27, 8, 5 and three seats respectively. After winning 26 seats in DDC election, Congress too has decided to support opposition alliance.

As per BJP's DDC polls in-charge Anurag Thakur, combined vote share of BJP and Independents amounts to a little over 52%. Speaking exclusively with Republic Media Network's Editor-in-Chief Arnab Goswami on Tuesday, MoS Finance asserted that people wanted to move towards development. Furrmore, he hailed results as a "win for democracy". Meanwhile, PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti contended that people's verdict was a rejection of decision to abrogate Article 370.
