On road to Bengal polls, all eyes on PM Modi's Visva-Bharati University centenary address
Ahead of Bengal polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to address centenary celebrations of Visva-Bharati University through video conferencing on Thursday.

Ahe of West Bengal polls, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dress centenary celebrations of Visva-Bharati University in Shantiniketan, West Bengal. West Bengal Goverr Jagdeep Dhankhar and Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal will also be present during ceremony. Founded by Rabindranath Tagore in 1921, Visva-Bharati is one of oldest central universities in country.

PM Modi to dress celebrations at Visa-Bharati University
Taking to Twitter, PM Modi wrote that he is looking forward to dressing centenary celebrations of iconic Visva-Bharati University, which he described as one among premium centres of learning and is closely associated with Rabindranath Tagore. His dress at Visva-Bharati University comes just days after he dressed centenary celebrations of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU).

Rabindranath Tagore, a bel laureate, is one of most revered icons in Indian history and hailed from Bengal, a state which will go to assembly polls in first half of next year. In May 1951, Visva-Bharati was declared a Central University and an "institution of national importance" by an Act of Parliament, PMO ted. university followed pedagogy devised by Tagore, though grually it evolved in format in which modern universities developed elsewhere. Narendra Modi, as Prime Minister, is ex-officio Chancellor of university.

West Bengal polls
