Owaisi claims 'donated 15 bottles of blood once', netizens ask how

In a bizarre and medically questionable claim,  AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi on Friday stated that he had once donated 15 bottles of blood while addressing a rally in Maharashtra. The video shared by a Twitter user shows the Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP saying that he not only donated blood but also personally ran to the victims' bedside at Hyderabad's Osmania General Hospital to deliver the blood. He has been rallying in Western Maharashtra ahead of the state Assembly polls on October 21.

Owaisi donated 15 bottles of blood?

"There was chaos and there was need for blood. A doctor called out ' Is anyone's blood group O Positive?' I raised my hand and that my (blood) was O positive. Allah is witness (to the fact) that I gave not one but 15 bottles of blood. And what happened? I donated blood and ran with the bottle to the patient's bed," he said.

Netizens have been quick to point out that the human body contains on average 4.5-5.5 litres. As one bottle  of blood would approximately amount to 500 ml, by Owaisi's calculations, netizens have pointed that 15 bottles of blood would mean that Owaisi would have to donate 7.8 litres of blood. Netizens have been astounded by the impossible medical marvel, claimed by Owaisi.

Maharashtra Assembly polls

Maharashtra which has 288 Assembly seats will go to polls in 21 October 2019. Maharashtra assembly elections will be held in a single-phase and the counting procedure would be conducted on October 24. Shiv Sena will contest for polls from 124 constituencies, the BJP will contest from 150 and its allies will contest from 14 constituencies. Meanwhile, Congress in alliance with Sharad Pawar's NCP, have decided to contest 125 seats each in the 288-member assembly, leaving the remaining 38 seats for its allies. Currently, the BJP holds 122 seats while the Shiv Sena holds 63 seats and the Opposition held by UPA has 42 seats.
