Terming as Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) president Sunil Jakhar's resignation as unnecessary, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh's office, on Monday, has released a press statement lauding the party's impressive performance in the state.

“H he discussed matter with me I would have categorically vised him against quitting as Punjab Presh Congress Committee (PPCC) president,” re statement.
Comparing party's performance in or states and Punjab, Punjab Chief Minister has credited Jakhar's leership which resulted in Congress grabbing 8 out of 13 seats in Lok Sabha polls.

While Jakhar has cited his own defeat in Gurdaspur to BJP's debutant politician Sunny Deol by 82459 votes as reason for his resignation, Singh has staunchly stood by Jakhar blaming electorate who opted for star power inste of an experienced politician.

Claiming that polity in India was yet to evolve, Singh ded that people would eventually value work over star power while electing ir representatives.
" defeat of Jakhar at hands of Bollywood star Sunny Deol was unfortunate and simply showed that polity in country is yet to evolve," he said in statement ding that he hoped that people would eventually learn to take se critical decisions based on quality of candidate and t on account of his/her star value.

Hoping that high command would t accept Jakhar's resignation which was clearly result of an emotional reaction, he ded that setting such a leer aside would send wrong mess.
"While Jakhar’s spirit in serving his resignation could be respected, putting aside a hardworking and committed leer like him would send wrong mess down rank and file of Punjab Congress" re statement.
While Congress mand to pass halfway mark in Punjab and Kerala with 8 and 15 seats each, it has t even been able to open its account in 17 states and union territories in 2019 Lok Sabha elections.
