Union Minister Piyush Goyal on Friday spoke to the media about Nobel Prize winner Abhijit Banerjee and his work in the conceptualisation of NYAY– a scheme which made into the 2019 Lok Sabha poll manifesto of Congress. After it was announced that Indian-origin economist and academic Abhijit Banerjee and his wife Esther Duflo won the Nobel Prize in Economic Sciences, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi lauded Banerjee for his work of conceptualising the NYAY scheme. The Union Minister said that he congratulated Banerjee for winning the prestigious award. He added people had, however, rejected NYAY, which was clear by giving the NDA the mandate in the 2019 polls.
