Thanking US President Donald Trump for joining him in his mega 'Howdy, Modi!' event in Texas, PM Modi on Monday has expressed his happiness at this special gesture. He said that Trump's presence at event signifies special friendship between India and USA. He also expressed his erness at attending mega-packed event. He added that this development also signified contribution of Indian community to American society and ecomy.

Earlier on Sunday, White House confirmed that US President Donald Trump will join Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Houston's mega "Howdy, Modi!" event on September 22. Reflecting on new bonhomie in India-US ties under Trump administration, this is for first time in recent history that leaders of two largest democracies would be addressing a joint rally anywhere in world. More than 50,000 Indian-Americans from across US have registered for September 22 mega "Howdy, Modi! Shared Dreams, Bright Futures" event to be held at sprawling NRG Stadium in Houston. "Howdy", short for 'How do you do?', is a friendly greeting commonly used in southwestern United States.

White House statement on Trump appearance
In a statement, White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham said, "It (Modi-Trump joint rally) will be a great opportunity to emphasize strong ties between people of United States and India. It would reaffirm strategic partnership between world's oldest and largest democracies, and to discuss ways to deepen ir energy and trade relationship." This would also be first time that an American president would be addressing thousands of Indian-Americans at one place in US. statement added that Trump will be accompanied by a bipartisan delegation of Goverrs, Members of Congress, Mayors and or public officials. Senior US senator and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer is also set to attend event.

'Howdy Modi!' event:
'Howdy Modi' event organised by Texas India Forum, a t-for-profit organisation has confirmed that over 650 community organisations have already signed up to be "welcome partners" for program. event will include a cultural programme and an address by PM Modi. A 90-minute cultural program titled, “Woven: Indian-American Story” is going to performed celebrating contributions of Indian-Americans to cultural, intellectual, and social landscape of United States. program will start at 10:00 am before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to stadium.
