On the auspicious occasion of Eid-E-Milad-Un-Nabi, President Ram Nath Kovind on Sunday, wished all citizens - especially Muslims in India and abroad, celebrating the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. He added that the Prophet's message of universal brotherhood and compassion inspires all. He also shared his wishes in Hindi.

PM Modi shares wishes

PM Modi too greeted the nation on the Prophet's birthday. He hoped that this day would further the spirit of harmony and compassion in society. He had also wished the nation in his address after the Ayodhya verdict on Saturday.

VP wishes

Vice President Venkaiah Naidu, on Sunday, wished the nation, commemorating the birth of Prophet Mohammad. He hoped that the celebration of the Prophet's life will strengthen generosity, a charity in people. He added that people must take the prophet's message of righteousness and virtue forward.

What is Eid-E-Milad-Un-Nabi?

Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi or Eid-e-Milad is celebrated commemorating the birth of Prophet Mohammad. The Prophet was born in Mecca on the twelfth day of Rabee-ul-Awwal, the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar, presumably in 570 CE. Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi falls on November 9 and will continue till evening of November 10 this year.
