President's rule in Maharashtra hits BJP hardest, contends Amit Shah

Union Home Minister and BJP president Amit Shah on Wednesday said that his Bharatiya Janata Party has suffered most with imposition of President's Rule in Maharashtra. Speaking to ANI, Shah said, "I would like to make it clear that if re is any party which has suffered most with imposition of President's Rule in Maharashtra, n it is BJP. We have lost a caretaker government. opposition has lost thing."

Shah ds to midterm polls
When asked what would happen after President's rule ends in six months, Shah expressed unwillingness over midterm elections in Maharashtra. "I do t want re-election in Maharashtra. After completion of six-month period, Goverr will take legal opinion and take constitutional step. Those who say that imposing president's rule was unconstitutional, I would like to tell m that y still have ir rights. y just do t have required numbers. If y have numbers, n y can go and form government," Union Minister outlined.

Targets Opposition over crying foul
Amit Shah also hit out at Opposition parties crying foul over imposition of President's rule in state. "If y (Opposition) wanted to gain public sympathy by creating a misconception about president's rule, n it means y do t trust intelligence of public," he said. Shah ded Opposition is indulging in "petty politics'' and politically undermining a Constitutional post is detrimental to democracy.

Door still open for govt formation, says Shah
When asked why was re a need to impose President's rule when it was kwn that coalition talks are underway, Shah said that it was necessary because n re could have been accusations that caretaker BJP government is being sustained. "As far as giving a chance to form government, door is still open. If y have numbers, y can go this instant to Goverr to stake a claim. If re are numbers n anyone can go, we can contact ( Goverr), y can contact (sic)."
