Punjab CM appeals citizens to remain calm and not panic in the backdrop of coronavirus

At least 6,000 people have died due to Coronavirus. The virus has infected around 1,69,000 people and has spread to more than 100 countries around the world.

Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, on Monday, asked citizens to t panic and vised m to take all necessary precautions to prevent spre of coronavirus. CM Singh held a review meeting and n dressed media.

Singh appeals for calmness

During meeting, he took stock of situation and state's preparedness to deal with COVID-19 outbreak. meeting was held with a seven-member Group of Ministers (GoM) constituted earlier by CM. It comprises of Om Prakash Soni, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Razia Sultana, Balbir Singh Sidhu, Vijay Inder Singla and Bharat Bhushan Ashu. 

He also declared that closure of Kartarpur Corridor was only a temporary measure in view of Coronavirus outbreak.  decision to close Corridor in wake of COVID-19 outbreak was a temporary precautionary measure aimed at checking spre of dely disease, he pointed out, ding that re was question of keeping it shut permanently.

Multiple states across country have taken up measures to contain spre of virus, including shutting down schools, universities, malls and or places where a large number of people can gar. Multiple firms have also implemented work from home so as to t expose employees to virus.

Union government anunced a travel ban on and suspended all visas and stated that all existing visas, barring diplomatic, UN/International Organisations, employment and project visas, will stand suspended till April 15, 2020. 

This visory also applies for people with visa-free travel, and to OCI cardholders, whose visa-free access will be temporarily suspended with effect from March 13, 2020. However, statement mentioned that any foreign national who intends to travel to India for any compelling reason may contact nearest Indian Embassy for furr clarity or guidance.

 Ministry of External Affairs has also appointed an ditional secretary level rank official as dal officer to coordinate efforts at global level regarding spre of COVID-19.
