Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday appealed to Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar to make arrangements for return of 104 Indian women stranded in Muscat. Taking to microblogging site, Singh said that that he h ordered GP, NRI affairs, to nab nts who cheated m. He also lauded efforts of Dubai-based hotelier S.P.S. Oberoi, who has consistently helped Indians in distress abro. Fourteen of m are from Punjab, as per reports.

Indian women stranded in Muscat
According to media reports, a video has gone viral on social media platforms showing several Indian women pleing for help, who have sought refuge at Indian embassy in Muscat (Oman) after escaping from clutches of ir oppressive landlords. A majority of women belong to Andhra Presh.
In video, y narrated ir ordeal of how y were duped by travel nts—first in India and n in Dubai. y claimed that nts sent m to UAE on a tourist visa with an assurance that ir contacts in Dubai would help m get jobs as a nurse and teachers, as per reports.

Reports furr mention that once women reached Dubai, y were forced to work as domestic help. y were later sold off to rich landlords, who confiscated ir passports and me m work for 18 hours a day, often beating m if y refuse to follow ir orders. women somehow mand to escape and reached embassy. y have been living in embassy for past six to 11 months, as per reports.

After video went viral, Dubai-based businessman Surinder Pal Singh Oberoi offered to help beleaguered women. He agreed to pay ir repatriation costs, which included airfare, and immigration and overstay fines.
