While Congress chief Rahul Gandhi continues his resignation drama, sources have told that he is miffed with the top Congress leaders for not 'sharing responsibility' for the humiliating loss the party faced during the 2019 Lok Sabha polls.
Sources have suggested that Rahul Gandhi expected the senior leaders of Congress to accept responsibility for the defeat and resign from their posts, he is still adamant on resigning as the party chief. However, he underscored that he wants to work for the party and its furtherment.

While the country watches Rahul Gandhi delaying his resignation, the Congress leaders have maintained their stance on Rahul Gandhi remaining as the party chief and lead from the front.
On Wednesday, June 26, Congress president Rahul Gandhi held yet another meeting insisting on his resignation while the entire Congress party telling him to continue on his post. The Congress party started a Twitter campaign under the name of #MyLeaderRahulGandhi.

The hashtag was trending in the early hours of the day, however, when taken a closer look, it proved to be bots and manufactured content. Congress official handles all around the country tweeted using the hashtag. However, most of the tweets read the same text.

The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) workers also held a demonstration right outside the residence of Congress President Rahul Gandhi urging him to reconsider his resignation and continue as the party President. Gandhi had reportedly told the members of the Youth Congress that senior leaders did not share any responsibility for the loss and that none of them resigned along with him.
Rahul Gandhi's decision to step down was unanimously rejected by the CWC which ordered him to do a complete overhaul and restructure the party at every level.

Earlier on June 18, Sonia Gandhi chaired a strategic meeting of the Congress leaders to discuss and finalize the approach of the party in the upcoming budget session in the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. Even then, rumors of Gandhi stepping down made rounds but nothing was mentioned about the matter.
