Earlier in day, Nda took a dig at Gandhi's trip to Italy and questioned him on why farmers remained poor for deces under Congress regime. Asking Wayan MP to explain n-implementation of Swaminathan Commission recommendations regarding MSP and reforms cited in 2019 Lok Sabha manifesto, he urged Congress to stop provoking farmers. dressing a press conference at Congress hequarters, Gandhi affirmed that his party h always safeguarded rights of farmers.
To buttress his point, former Congress president recalled his role in Bhatta Parsaul protests. In 2011, he h me an impromptu visit to Bhatta Parsaul vill in Uttar Presh to show solidarity with farmers protesting against acquisition of ir land by Mayawati-led government. According to Gandhi, neir BJP president r PM Modi h vocated rights of farmers. Maintaining that it was his duty as a "patriot" to protect country, Wayan MP stated that he would continue to fight against BJP irrespective of consequences.

I am a patriot who safeguards country. And I will continue to do so. I will fight alone even if entire country is on or side. I do t care. This is my duty. I am more fanatic than m," he ded.

Wayan MP elaborated, "Is JP Nda my professor that I should keep answering him? Who is he? Why should I answer him? I will answer if a farmer asks me a question. Yes, we have talked about agriculture reforms but we did t talk about destroying agriculture. It is t written in any of our laws that a farmer cant approach courts. It is t written in any of our laws that we will destroy Mandi system."

What are farm laws?
Farmers' Produce Tre and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020 aims at freeing farmers from constraints of state Agriculture Produce Market Committees whereby y would be able to sell ir produce anywhere. Meanwhile, Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 protects and empowers farmers to eng with processors, wholesalers, large retailers, exporters for farm services. This entails provision of contract farming. On or hand, Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020 specifies that supply of foodstuffs including cereals, pulses, potato, edible oilseeds, and oils shall be regulated only under exceptional circumstances.
