On Wednesday, former Congress president Rahul Gandhi took a dig at Centre over Delhi Police's plea in Supreme Court seeking an injunction on tractor rally in Delhi on Republic Day. Questioning priorities of Union government, he claimed that it found tractor rally more "embarrassing" than death of over 60 farmers during protests against three farm laws. Wayan MP was referring to contention of Delhi Police that any disruption on January 26 will be tantamount to causing a "huge embarrassment" for India.

Maintaining that right to protest is always subject to  "countervailing public order and public interest", police stated in its application before SC that right to protest cant imply "maligning nation globally". On Tuesday, a  three-judge SC bench comprising Chief Justice SA Bobde, Justice AS Bopanna and Justice V Ramasubramanian issued tice to farm unions on this plea and journed matter to January 18. Earlier, Gandhi h cast aspersions on credibility of 4-member committee formed by apex court to solve impasse and affirmed that agitation shall continue until farm laws are repealed.

MP Home Minister Narottam Mishra remarked, "When decision is t in ir favour, y indirectly question credibility of judiciary. When people's mandate is t ir favour, y indirectly question credibility of EVMs. If Army enters Pakistan, y question Army. If y questioned vaccine, what else can we hope for? Wher it is Centre or MP government, we take oath on Constitution and will follow SC order."
