As reported a news agency, Raj Babbar has written a two-page letter congratulating Ajay Kumar Lallu over his appointed as the UP Congress chief. He has also congratulated party colleague Aradhana Misra over his appointment as the new Congress legislature party leader in the state.

Babbar further maintained that with UP General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra handling the party affairs in the state, Congress will come out stronger under her leadership.

"The formation of the new organisation gives a clear message that the party is ready for the struggle and I am confident that the Congress will emerge stronger under her leadership," Raj Babbar said.

The Congress Rajya Sabha MP stated that while he made all possible efforts to bolster the party in the state as the UPCC chief, he may have faltered. Raj Babbar, what appeared to be, took responsibility for the dismal performance of the party in the Lok Sabha elections in UP. Extending best wishes to the party's leaders in UP, he agreed that faith of the people in the party has been shaken.

"I may not have fulfilled the aspirations of some leaders and for this, seek forgiveness. Congress is a party with history and has strong roots in the country, especially in rural areas. There is no denying the fact that the faith of the people in the party has been shaken but this is a temporary phase and there is no religion bigger than humanity," he said as quoted by the news agency.

The copies of the letter to Ajay Kumar Lallu were sent to Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

Ajay Kumar Lallu - New UPCC president

On Friday, Ajay Kumar Lallu assumed charge as at the UPCC president. Taking charge of his responsibilities, he vowed to make the Congress party again "the voice of the deprived" in Uttar Pradesh.

"The Congress will become the voice of the deprived, harassed, farmers, youths and women in Uttar Pradesh. We have several challenges before us but with the blessings of seniors and the support of youths, no one will be able to stop the party from coming to power in 2022," Lallu said addressing the workers and supporters after taking charge as the new UPCC president.
