Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot announces Cabinet's decisions; conditions on MLALAD funds eased
The Rajasthan Cabinet chaired by Ashok Gehlot took a number of decisions to ameliorate the problems faced by the people due to the coronavirus-induced lockdown.

On Tuesday, Rajasthan Cabinet chaired by CM Ashok Gehlot took a number of decisions to ameliorate problems faced by people due to coronavirus-induced lockdown. First, state government has decided to provide Rs.1000 to 35 lakh needy families affected by lockdown, for which Rs.351 crore will be spent. During lockdown, Rs.2500 h been given to needy families.
Mentioning that tourism and hotel industry h been versely affected, Gehlot ted that livelihoods of lakhs of people are at stake. He anunced that more benefits would be extended to tourism, hotel and multiplex sector units under Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme 2019. Meanwhile, Cabinet has approved restarting public transport with social distancing measures. Thus, city buses and autorickshaws will able to ply again. In ar big move, Rajasthan government has allowed MLAs to spend Rs.1 crore out of Rs.2 crore MLAL (MLA Local Area Development) funds for purposes or than medical facilities. This is being perceived as an attempt to pacify upset legislators amid political turmoil in state.

rift among Congress MLAs in Rajasthan
On July 13, Congress Legislative Party in Rajasthan passed a resolution unanimously supporting state government led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. MLAs also condemned all acts intended to weaken government. y also called for strict disciplinary action to be taken against any Congress MLA or office-bearer of party directly or indirectly involved in anti-party activities.
Sachin Pilot and his loyalists stayed away from this meeting. Furrmore, y rejected Congress party's overtures by refusing to attend second CLP meeting convened on July 14. Subsequently, Pilot was sacked as Rajasthan Deputy CM and PCC chief. After Assembly Speaker issued a disqualification tice to Pilot camp, y moved Rajasthan HC to quash tice.

Earlier in day, a two-judge bench of Rajasthan HC comprising Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty and Justice Prakash Gupta reserved order on plea filed by Sachin Pilot and 18 or Congress MLAs. Senior vocate Mukul Rohatgi concluded arguments for petitioners. Rajasthan HC will prounce its verdict on July 24. Most importantly, Assembly Speaker has been requested t to take any coercive action against Pilot and 18 or Congress MLAs until verdict is prounced.
