The Rajasthan High Court referred Sachin Pilot and 18 supporting MLAs' plea challenging the Assembly Speaker's disqualification notice to a division bench

On Thursday, Rajasthan High Court referred plea of Sachin Pilot and 18 supporting MLAs challenging Assembly Speaker's disqualification tice to a division bench. During hearing, Justice Satish Chandra Sharma accepted amended petition filed by Congress MLAs. Appearing for Assembly Speaker, Congress RS MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi opposed plea, citing that final decision on disqualification petitions has t been taken.
He argued that judicial intervention cant be done at this st of proceedings. Singhvi ded that petition is t maintainable. Senior vocate Harish Salve appeared for Sachin Pilot and 18 supporting MLAs. As per sources, a two-judge bench of Rajasthan HC will hear matter on Thursday evening itself. disqualification tice has been challenged on grounds that Assembly is t in session and that MLAs h t indulged in anti-party activities.

Pilot’s departure to Delhi with some of his supporting legislators on July 11 set off alarm bells in Congress camp. As per sources, he h a one-to-one meeting with senior Congress leer Ahmed Patel, where he listed a long list of grievances. Some of MLAs from Pilot camp are believed to be lodged at Gurugram as well. ditionally, sources revealed that Pilot h sought a meeting with Congress president Sonia Gandhi to apprise her of step-morly treatment being meted out to his faction.
On July 13, Congress Legislative Party in Rajasthan passed a resolution unanimously supporting state government led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot. MLAs also condemned all acts intended to weaken government. y also called for strict disciplinary action to be taken against any Congress MLA or office-bearer of party directly or indirectly involved in anti-party activities. However, Sachin Pilot and his loyalists stayed away from this meeting.

Moreover, y rejected Congress party's overtures by refusing to attend second CLP meeting convened on Tuesday. A day earlier, Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala asked Sachin Pilot and or dissident MLAs to prove ir loyalty to party by returning to Jaipur. Taking a dig at Pilot, Surjewala urged MLAs to talk on party forums inste of communicating through media.
