Making a massive admission, former PM Dr Manmohan Singh said that if the Former PM PV Narasimha Rao had taken a step, 1984 riots would not have happened.

Making a massive mission on Thursday, former Prime Minister and Congress leer Dr Manmohan Singh said that if Former PM PV Narasimha Rao h taken a step, 1984 riots would t have happened. Speaking at event organised to mark 100th birth anniversary of former PM IK Gujral, Singh said that Gujral h warned Rao of grave situation but he did t pay heed to it. This comes at backdrop of re-opening of 1984 riots cases. 

Earlier on vember 29,  Special Investigation Team probing into 1984 anti-Sikh riots submitted a sealed cover report before Supreme Court regarding 198 cases closed by CBI. Supreme Court will consider SIT report filed by SIT team under Justice Dhingra and hearing is set to begin hearing in two weeks. Moreover, sources report that Supreme Court is mulling wher to furnish a copy of report to petitioners. apex court has also allowed CBI officer Abhishek Bhullar to be repatriated to CBI.

SC to consider Sajjan Kumar's bail plea 

Earlier on vember 4, Supreme Court agreed to consider bail plea of former Congress leer Sajjan Kumar, sentenced for life by Delhi High Court in a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case. CBI on March 15 told Supreme Court that Sajjan Kumar's plea challenging life term stating that he has a "large political clout" and is capable of "influencing or terrorising" witnesses in case pending against him. Sajjan Kumar, 73, was convicted to killing of five Sikhs in Delhi Cantonment's Raj Nagar Part-I area of southwest Delhi on vember 1-2 in 1984, and burning down of a Gurudwara in Raj Nagar Part-II.

SIT probes into Kamal Nath's involvement

Meanwhile, Centre has constituted an SIT and is probing into Mhya Presh CM Kamal Nath's role in 1984 anti-Sikh riots. Akali Dal leers have alleged that Nath h incited violence against Sikh at that time, as per sources. Two witnesses - Sanjay Suri and Mukhtiyar Singh have appeared before SIT to record ir statements. Akali Dal has constantly demanded resignation of Kamal Nath from Congress party as well from post of Chief Minister of Mhya Presh.
