Days after quitting AAP, Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba has been disqualified by Delhi Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on Thursday under the anti-defection law.

Days after quitting AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) on Twitter, Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba has been disqualified by Delhi Speaker Ram Niwas Goel on Thursday from Assembly under anti-defection law. As per a statement released in matter, Alka Lamba's disqualification will take effect from September 6. Following her disqualification from Delhi assembly, Chandni Chowk Assembly seat has fallen vacant.
development has come after AAP legislator Saurabh Bharadwaj filed a petition, and said that Alka Lamba has joined Congress party after quitting Arvind Kejriwal-led party.

"Alka Lamba, Respondent in this case, an elected Member of Legislative Assembly of National Capital Territory of Delhi, elected from Chandni Chowk (Assembly Constituency . 20) has become subject to disqualification under Paragraph 2 (1) (a) of Tenth Schedule of Constitution," statement said, as reported by news ncy PTI.
Former AAP MLAs Kapil Mishra, Sandeep Kumar, Anil Bajpai and Devendra Sehrawat were disqualified from Delhi assembly under anti-defection law.

Alka Lamba resigns
Alka Lamba, on September 6, took to Twitter and posted her resignation from primary membership of AAP. Her decision had come following her meeting with Congress interim chief Sonia Gandhi. After her resignation, reports have emerged that she joined Congress party. She was a Congress party leader for over 20 years before she joined AAP in 2014.
