Days after Union Minister Ram Vilas Paswan's veiled 'angootha Chhap' attack on Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Rabri Devi over the party's opposition to the Centre's quota bill, party leader and her son Tej Pratap Yadav on Tuesday hit back at the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader.
Talking to Twitter, the RJD leader posted a picture of a cartoon venting his ire at Ram Vilas Paswan, who incidentally, was an RJD ally before he joined the BJP-led NDA ahead of the 2014 Lok Sabha polls. In the cartoon, Ram Vilas Paswan is seen as a mythical demon being slain by his mother Rabri Devi who is shown as Goddess Durga riding a lion.

"A woman gives birth, motherly affection and also forgives mistakes. But history is a witness that those insulting a woman, even big demons like Ravana and Duryodhana, were vanquished. What is to say of these opportunistic politicians," Mr Yadav tweeted in Hindi, captioning the cartoon.

While addressing a press briefing in Patna last week, the senior LJP leader had criticized the RJD for its opposition to the upper castes quota. He had alleged that the party founded by Lalu Prasad Yadav believed merely raising slogans. Although Mr Paswan did not take senior RJD leader Rabri Devi's name, his remark was inferred as a veiled attack on the former Bihar Chief Minister.
Notably, Mr Paswan's comments had drawn flak from his own daughter Asha who had said that she felt hurt by the remarks as her own mother was illiterate. She also threatened to stage a dharna at the office of his Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) and demanded her father to issue an apology for his remarks.

"He has insulted Rabri Devi. My mother too was uneducated -- a reason why he abandoned her. He must apologise or else I will stage a dharna in front of the LJP office," Asha said.
