Sachin Pilot welcomes SC's decision directing EC to conduct last phase of Panchayat polls

After SC directed the Rajasthan's State Election Commission to conduct Panchayat polls, the Deputy CM of state, Sachin Pilot welcomed the apex court’s decision

After Supreme Court directed Rajasthan's State Election Commission to conduct last phase of Panchayat polls, on Friday, Deputy CM of state, Sachin Pilot welcomed apex court’s decision. He expressed content over SC’s decision to scrap all petitions against development of Panchayats suggested by government in Rajasthan. Pilot furr ded that SC h restored state’s faith in democracy.

Talking about Supreme Court’s decision, Sachin Pilot said, “I welcome Supreme Court’s decision. I want to thank SC on behalf of all people in Rajasthan. This will ensure that we can soon have elections. I am also happy that  hourable Supreme Court has accepted and approved all tifications that we h registered regarding development of Panchayat. SC has also dismissed all petitions challenging our tifications and approved our development projects. y have also directed Election Commission to conduct polls in state as soon as possible. y have asked m to complete it before April.”

“I feel that re should always be free and fair elections in a democracy. se elections are important for rural areas. We have also stood by fact that re should be elections, but it was challenged in Supreme Court for longest time. Today, I feel that our democracy has won. Election Commission is a democratic institution and I want to assure m that state government will completely support m in conducting elections smoothly,” he ded.

SC’s decision on Panchayat elections in Rajasthan 

On Friday, apex court directed  Rajasthan Election Commission to hold Panchayat elections in state by April 2020. CJI Shar Arvind Bobde heed bench which heard petition filed by Rajasthan government against state election commission's decision to stay fourth phase of panchayat elections.  state government h filed a petition in apex court challenging commission's decision to stay elections and sought that polls are conducted before term of Panchayat ends. Earlier, Rajasthan High Court h quashed a tification on delimitations after which state h moved top court.
