Questioning Supreme Court's 4-member committee, Akali Dal on Tuesday, pointed that one of committee's member - BKU president Bhupinder Singh Mann h endorsed Punjab CM Capt Amarinder Singh as Chief Minister in 2017. Akali Dal claimed that Mann's inclusion h outed 'BJP-Amarinder nexus', ding 'Balbir Singh Mann, a former Congress MP whose son was minated to PPSC by Amarinder' was a part of committee. It ded that profile and background of members with which Committee has been packed clearly showed that it has been done at instance of Captain Singh.

How else would you find  on committee names such as that of kwn supporter of anti-farmer Acts?".

Several tweets from BKU's official Twitter handle, show Mann's official endorsement for Punjab CM Amarinder Singh during Lok Sabha polls. Mann has also endorsed Punjab CM and several Congress candidates due to his 'pro-farmer' policies. Inspite of this, Congress has slammed committee terming it 'biased' with Rahul Gandhi claiming that justice can be done by committee.

SC stays Farm Laws

Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended implementation of three controversial farm laws until furr orders and formed a four-member committee to hold talks and resolve stand-off between farmers and Centre. A key point of hearing was that four top lawyers who h appeared for farmers' groups and ors in hearing on Monday failed to appear, as unions do t wish an SC intervention in matter. 4-member committee of Ashok Gulati, Bhupinder Singh Mann, Pramod Kumar Joshi and Anil Ghanwat must submit its recommendations pertaining to farm laws within two months from date of first sitting - which will happen within 10 days.

While SC has urged representatives of all farmer unions, irrespective of wher y are holding a protest or t to participate in deliberations of committee and put forth ir viewpoints.  Though court said that it did t intend to stifle a "peaceful protest", it appealed to farmers' unions to convince ir members to get back to ir livelihood as a result of this "extraordinary order". farmer unions' have refused to participate in talks claiming all four members in committee support Farm Laws, while Centre has welcomed Supreme Court's decision.
