SAD delegation meets President Kovind, requests him to not sign the Farm Bills
The SAD delegation requested the President to not sign on the 'anti-farmer' bills, alleging that they had been passed forcibly in the Rajya Sabha.

A delegation of Shiromani Akali Dal (S) met President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday to discuss contentious Farm Bills that have caused a massive uproar in Parliament over last few days. S delegation requested President to t sign on 'anti-farmer' bills, alleging that y h been passed forcibly in Rajya Sabha.
"We requested him to send back bills to Parliament," said S Chief Sukhbir Singh Bal. "y (farmers) are facing exploitation and look up to you to exercise your discretion as highest executive in country and come to ir rescue. If Bills become an Act, poor classes & ir future generations will never forgive us," said party to President.
S reconsidering alliance with BJP-led NDA?
Earlier party sources h informed PTI that Shiromani Akali Dal (S) will decide on wher it wanted to continue its alliance with BJP-led NDA after taking into account fate of three farm bills in Rajya Sabha. After Farm Bills were passed in Upper House, S MP Naresh Gujral suggested that agricultural reform bills be sent to a select committee of Rajya Sabha so that opinions of all stakeholders are heard. dressing Rajya Sabha on Sunday, Gujral remarked that re is a 'trust deficit and communication gap' despite an increase in MSP.

A senior party leer h informed PTI that at moment S's main focus was to safeguard interests of farmers, and t its alliance with BJP. core group of S on September 19 held a meeting in Delhi with several ors joining through video conference from Punjab to discuss its next course of action after Harsimrat Kaur resigned from Cabinet in protest against three agriculture bills. Harsimrat Kaur Bal, who tendered her resignation to Prime Minister's Office (PMO) h said, "I don't want to be part of a government which brought farm sector bills without dressing apprehensions of farmers."

In his speech during a discussion on two of farm bills -- Farmers Produce Tre and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Bill and Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Bill -- in Lok Sabha, Sukhbir Singh Bal said proposed laws will "destroy" 50 years of hard work put in by successive Punjab governments and farmers to build agriculture sector.
