SAD, AAP MLAs walk out of Punjab Assembly during Governor's address

Opposition S and AAP members on Thursday walked out from Punjab Assembly during Goverr's dress to protest "n-fulfilment "of various promises me by state Congress government.
During 30-minute dress of Goverr V P Singh Bre to Assembly on opening day of its two-day session, Shiromani Akali Dal members tried to disrupt his speech and raised slogans targeting Congress government over alleged n-fulfilment of various promises me to people.

Carrying rattles, S members led by Bikram Singh Majithia stood near Well of House and raised slogans and tried to repeatedly disrupt speech even as Goverr continued with his dress. Main opposition Aam Ami Party MLAs led by Leer of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema also raised slogans against Amarinder Singh government targeting it on various issues.

Cheema along with most of his MLAs n walked out. Later, S members also walked out from House. Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and or Congress MLAs were present in House. Goverr was highlighting various achievements and programmes of State government when S members tried to disrupt his speech.
S President Sukhbir Singh Bal was t present in House while party's rebel MLA Parminder Dhindsa did t attend proceedings. Three rebel AAP MLAs did t take part in protest. Ahe of session, Majithia and or S members protested outside Assembly targeting state government on “n-fulfilment” of promises me at time of polls in 2017.

Talking to reporters later, Majithia said, "Farmers were promised by Congress that ir debt will be waived, Rs 10 lakh assistance will be given to peasant families, jobs would be given to each family, sixth pay commission promise was me to employees, regularisation of jobs of contractual employees, besides slew of or promises were me, which remain unfulfilled.''
On AAP staging a protest, Majithia said, “It is just an eyewash. AAP is baby Congress, it is ir 'B' team. y are hand-in-glove." Senior AAP leer Aman Arora told reporters that Congress government h gone back on its various promises.

He said his party was also seeking scrapping of power purchase agreements signed by previous S-BJP regime and h sought a discussion on it in Assembly. "Before session, our party delegation h met Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh and urged him to allow moving a private member bill ' Punjab Termination of Power Purchase Agreements with 3 IPPs Act, 2020' in Assembly session, but it was disallowed,” Arora said.
Punjab Assembly special session began on Thursday to ratify Constitution (126th Amendment) Bill 2019 extending reservation for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe communities in Lok Sabha and state assemblies by ar 10 years. Besides, or important legislative business would also be taken up during session. On amended citizenship law, Punjab government h recently said it will go by will of state assembly on issue of Citizenship Amendment Act, National Register of Citizens and National Population Register.
