Samajwadi party fumes over 'red-green' tiles in Railway toilet; says similar to party flag

Samajwadi Party (SP) on Thursday, slammed Railways after it had put 'red and green' tiles in the toilet at Gorakhpur's Lalit Narayan Mishra Railway Hospital.

Railway swings into action

After protest, SP claims that Railways has rectified its mistake, by painting white colour over red-green tiles. Sharing photos of painted tiles, party said that such actions which hurt sentiments should t be repeated in future. Several people h taken to Twitter, upset with 'red-green' tiles, terming it 'anti-socialist'.

Samajwi Party is currently embroiled in a bitter battle with its long-time rival Bahujan Samaj party (BSP) after six party MLAs reportedly met Samajwi Party chief Akhilesh Yav and later threw hints that y may switch sides. Taking swift action, BSP Supremo Mayawati suspended seven of her party's rebel MLAs who h opposed mination of its official candidate Ramji Gautam for elections to Rajya Sabha. Mayawati also said that to ensure defeat of Samajwi Party candidates in future MLC elections, her party will vote for BJP or any or party's candidate.

After alliance, Mayawati decided to withdraw her case against Samajwi Party patriarch Mulayam Singh Yav in 1995 infamous Luckw guest house incident when Mayawati, who was dressing a meeting along with party MLAs, was attacked by SP leers after which she along with MLAs locked herself in room. After poll drubbing, both parties called it quits.

Uttar Presh by-polls

Seven state assembly seats in Uttar Presh will go to polls on vember 3 and results would be declared on vember 10. Of seven seats, five seats - Tundla, Ghatampur,  Naugaon, Bulandshahr, Deoria, Malhani are up for polls due to demise of sitting MLA - two due to COVID. or seat Bangarmau is up for polls due to BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar was convicted in a rape case. As BJP h won six of seven seats in 2017, it has fielded 7 candidates. Surprisingly, Congress, BSP and Samajwi party too have fielded candidates on all seven seats each, hinting at a close battle in 2022 elections.
