Speaking to media on Monday, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut slammed BJP for creating fear about Citizenship Amendment Act. At same time, he ackwledged that it was very difficult for Centre to throw individuals out of country. He also questioned Centre’s ability to provide food, shelter, and employment to new citizens at a juncture when lakhs of Indians lacked se very necessities.

Sanjay Raut remarked, “Wher anyone opposes CAA or t, it is t easy for government to throw anyone out of India. Home Minister has said that this law is t to throw someone out, it is for giving citizenship. We want to see how people are provided with food, shelter, and employment. In this country, re are already lakhs of people who do t have shelter and employment. law has t been operationalised yet.”
He added, “In Maharashtra, CM Uddhav Thackeray said that re are many people enjoying government posts who do t have a birth certificate. So, will you throw m out? re are many Hindus and Muslims like this. I will talk about NRC. NRC and CAA are different. fear of law that you are creating for votebank politics is t good.”

CAA seeks to provide citizenship
CAA seeks to provide citizenship to mirity communities namely Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains, Parsis and Christians from Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Pakistan. This will be applicable to members of se communities having arrived in India on or before December 31, 2014. Moreover, y will t be considered as illegal migrants. Additionally, mandatory residence period for naturalised citizenship for se communities has been reduced to five years. opposition contends that Act discriminates on basis of religion.
