Sena rakes up old rhetoric against Bihar & UP migrants after Gadkari's population concern

Shiv Sena attacked the Centre over the alleged comments by Union Min Nitin Gadkari where he said that the population in Mumbai and Pune needs to be controlled

Shiv Sena on Monday attacked Central government over alleged comments by Union Minister Nitin Gkari where he said that population in Mumbai and Pune needs to be controlled. Sena in editorial of its mouthpiece 'Saamana' said that it agrees with concerns of Gkari but he also needs to tell what solution can be found to solve this issue.

'Mumbai more of outsiders than of Marathis'

party said that issue of population was brought up by Shiv Sena founder Balasaheb Thackeray during Vajpayee regime and he h suggested a 'permit' rule for outsiders entering state but however leers of states like Uttar Presh and Bihar opposed it at that time.

It also raised issue of re-migration of workers from Uttar Presh and Bihar to Mumbai amid Coronavirus pandemic and slammed governments of UP and Bihar. Sena asked that what happened to promises me by UP and Bihar Chief Ministers when y said that migrant workers will be provided employment in state and y will not to take permission to go to or states for work.

Shiv Sena said that around seven to eight lakh migrant workers from Mumbai and around three lakh migrant workers h returned to ir state but now, at least two lakh of m have returned in search of jobs because states did not provide m with employment. 

editorial said that in year 2015, 'Smart City Mission' was announced by PM Modi where Centre was planning to make 100 smart cities like Mumbai and Pune but it has been more than five years now and re is no progress on that project. "To solve issue of population in Mumbai, government should build smart cities in Jharkhand, Bihar and UP to reduce burden on Mumbai and Pune and n only Gkari's worries will be solved," it said.
