Six Congress MLAs in Manipur have submitted their resignation from the Legislative Assembly and also quit the party on Tuesday.

Six Congress MLAs in Manipur have submitted ir resignation from Legislative Assembly and also quit party on Tuesday. six legislators who h handed over resignation letters to Speaker Yumnam Khemchand Singh previous night, formally informed Congress office here about leaving party.
"Six Cong MLAs of Manipur have submitted ir resignation letters to Congress office," Hareshwar Goshwami, General Secretary, Manipur Presh Congress Committee, told PTI.

six are among eight Congress legislators who h defied a party whip on Monday and skipped one-day session of assembly, in which BJP-led N Biren Singh government h comfortably won confidence vote.

Those giving up ir assembly membership as well as saying goodbye to party included Okram Henry Singh, nephew of Congress Legislature Party leer, Okram Ibobi Singh. Or legislators are- Oinam Lukhoi, Md Abdul Nasir, Paonam Brojen, Ngamthang Haokip, and Ginsuanhau. Secretary of Manipur Assembly M Ramani Devi told PTI that speaker has accepted resignation of five of m and ir assembly seats have been declared as vacant. disqualification case of sixth MLA P Brojen is alrey pending with Speaker's Tribunal, which would be taken up on August 14, she said.
About reasons for resigning, Henry Singh said y all have cited lack of trust in leership of Ibobi Singh because of whom Congress failed to form government even when it was single largest party in state after polls in 2017. rest two of eight, who h stayed away from day-long special session of house previous day are- Md Fazur Rahman and Yamthong Haokip.

Furr, three Congress MLAs - Kshetrimayum Biren Singh, Yengkhom Surchandra Singh, and Sanasam Bira Singh- were disqualified from membership of Manipur Legislative Assembly by speaker.
