Supriya Shrinate has been appointed as the new spokesperson of the Congress party on Saturday, a fact revealed by AICC Communications Incharge Surjewala

Supriya Shrinate has been appointed as new spokesperson of Congress party on Saturday. in-charge of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Communications cell, Randeep Singh Surjewala revealed this information. He stated that party president Sonia Gandhi h given her stamp of approval to aforesaid appointment. Shrinate is a former Delhi-based journalist, who quit position of Executive Director at private English news channel ET W to join Congress party earlier this year. She thanked party leership and expressed a desire to make a meaningful contribution.

Failed Lok Sabha attempt
Ahe of 2019 General Elections, she entered election fray from Maharajganj Lok Sabha constituency in Uttar Presh. She is daughter of late Congress politician Harsh Vardhan, who h won same seat in 2009. However, she was t first candidate earmarked by party. It h decided to give ticket to Tanushree Tripathi, daughter of jailed politician Amarmani Tripathi. Congress suffered considerable embarrassment as Shivpal Yav's Pragatisheel Samajwi Party-Lohia also named same candidate to contest from Maharajganj. At this juncture, Shrinate got opportunity to fight election. Despite a spirited campaign that even involved participation of Congress leer Priyanka Gandhi Vra, she lost to Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Pankaj Chaudhary by a huge margin.
