Talks between India and China are going on; do not want to pre-judge: Jaishankar

India and China are engaged in talks to resolve the border standoff and what is going on is "something confidential" between the two sides, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday.

India and China are engd in talks to resolve border standoff and what is going on is "something confidential" between two sides, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said on Thursday.

Asked specifically about outcome of ongoing talks during an online conclave, external affairs minister said "discussions are going on and it is a work in progress."

At same time, he said re has been a troop build-up along Line of Actual Control (LAC) and in many ways it has precedence in recent past. India and China are locked in a military standoff in eastern Lakh for over five months.

Discussions are on; what is going on is something confidential between us and Chinese,he said when moderator at Bloomberg India Ecomic Forum pressed minister to give a clear status of border situation.

re is t very much that I am in a position to say in public. I certainly do t want to prejudge it,he ded.

Asked about situation in Tibet as well as developments along LAC, Jaishankar said, "I do t think we should get into or issues which frankly has thing to do with situation currently in Lakh."

He said relations between India and China improved following signing of a series of agreements since 1993 on maintaining peace and tranquillity along border.

For last 30 years, we have built a relationship predicated on peace and tranquillity along border,he said.

Jaishankar said if peace and tranquillity is t ensured and agreements signed are t houred, n that is "primary cause of disruption".
